Mei Foo Sun Chuen
Sector:Residential
Size: 700 SQ/FT
Location: Mei Foo, Hong Kong

This apartment in Mei Foo Sun Chuen has been redesigned to cater to a young family with two children. The main challenge in the design was the apartment’s deep and narrow layout, which limited the number of windows.

We successfully created a modern home with a warm ambiance. The use of warm lighting and materials, along with the incorporation of timber accents, adds a touch of softness to the space.

The lounge and dining area are connected to share the available natural light, supplemented by ample artificial lighting to compensate for the layout’s depth.

The overall design theme focuses on creating a modern home with a warm ambiance. The use of warm lighting and materials, along with the incorporation of timber accents, adds a touch of softness to the space.

The apartment’s layout follows a linear, open-concept design, with the television viewing area and dining area occupying the central, interconnected space. This linear configuration serves as the primary organisational structure for the apartment’s main living spaces.

The kitchen is equipped with a window that offers a scenic Mountain View, allowing fresh air to circulate while cooking and helping to disperse any cooking odours. In terms of design, we aim to incorporate a vibrant accent colour into the selection of kitchen materials.

This effectively introduces a youthful and energetic atmosphere to the space, where the client can enjoy cooking within a bright and cheerful colour scheme.

As a result of the apartment’s deep and narrow layout, the toilet lacks access to natural light. To address this, we have incorporated the yellow accent colour into the design of the toilet as well as by incorporating ample lighting, we have successfully created a brighter and visually refreshing atmosphere for the entire toilet space.

The master bedroom and children’s bedroom were given top priority when it came to incorporating natural lighting. This was done to ensure that the clients could experience the gentle morning sunlight and enjoy fresh air flowing in through the windows.

The design of the bedrooms aims for simplicity while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, making them ideal spaces for the clients to relax and rest.
