The show flat design of a small apartment for a young family with two children.  The designs adhere to a restricted budget that caters to the needs of a typical young family in Hong Kong.

When it comes to designing for a family with young children, the layout incorporates a master bedroom and a separate children’s bedroom. The design maintains a minimalist approach, retaining painted walls while introducing half-height wall panels in areas that require protection and easy cleaning. Additionally, rounded edges are integrated into the children’s rooms to ensure safety. A bunk bed is also incorporated in the children’s room design to take advantage of the high ceiling. As a result, this design effectively showcases a modern and practical home suitable for a young family in Hong Kong.

The overall approach to the design maintains a minimalist aesthetic. This is achieved by retaining painted walls and incorporating half-height wall panels in areas that require added protection and ease of cleaning. A ceiling light trough helps to keep the space clean and visually reinforces the high ceilings of the apartment. Additionally, the air conditioning unit is cleverly concealed within a louvered cabinet, preserving the neat and simple design while ensuring accessibility for maintenance.

Furniture with rounded edges and soft wall cushions are integrated into the children’s rooms to prioritize safety. The children’s room design also includes a bunk bed layout to optimize the use of the high ceiling.

Additionally, pops of orange are incorporated into the design to inject a sense of playfulness and energy into the kids’ space. Given that children grow up rapidly, it is crucial for the room design to accommodate their evolving needs. The inclusion of a height-adjustable desk chair allows the space to adapt as the children mature. Furthermore, the overall design aesthetic is compatible with the preferences of young teenagers.

Through these thoughtful design choices, the children’s areas strike a balance between functionality and visual appeal.

The master bedroom design features a sophisticated grid-patterned headboard with integrated LED lighting. This same grid motif is carried through to the cabinet design, adding visual interest to an otherwise plain surface. To cultivate a more mature and refined mood, a touch of maroon is incorporated alongside the predominantly grey and natural timber tones. The use of warmer hues creates an inviting and comfortable ambiance, encouraging the occupants to linger.

Additionally, a small built-in desk provides a private space for tasks like laptop work or a daily makeup routine, complete with an adjustable mirror. Through these thoughtful design choices, the master bedroom exudes an elevated, tranquil atmosphere.
